Former President Trump on Wednesday afternoon delivered remarks at the National Association of Black Journalists conference in Chicago.
The decision to have Trump speak has sparked backlash within the organization and was a factor that led to the resignation of one of the convention’s co-chairs.
In a press release announcing the event, Trump’s campaign said he has “accomplished more for Black Americans than any other president in recent history by implementing America First policies on the economy, immigration, energy, law and order, and foreign policy.”
The event came as new polling shows that Vice President Harris, the likely Democratic nominee, is putting key swing states back in play, with Trump’s lead narrowing greatly in a few polls released this week.
