Watch live: Harris, Walz conclude first battleground blitz with Las Vegas rally

Democratic presidential nominee Vice President Harris and running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz arrive at a campaign rally at Desert Diamond Arena, Aug. 9, 2024, in Glendale, Ariz.

Vice President Harris and her running mate Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) are holding a campaign event in Las Vegas Saturday night, concluding their first tour through the key battleground states ahead of November.

During the event in Nevada, a key swing state, Harris is hoping to build a stronger support system among Latino voters. Former President Biden, who dropped out of the race last month and endorsed his vice president to lead the ticket, edged out former President Trump in the Silver State in 2020 by just 2.4 percentage points.

According to The Hill/Decision Desk HQ’s polling index, early polls from the state show Trump in the lead with 46.8 percent support to Harris’s 44.3 percent.

The campaign rally comes just days after election handicapper Cook Political Report shifted its ratings for Arizona, Georgia and Nevada toward Harris, as she continues to close the polling gap with Trump. The states are now considered “toss ups.”

The event is scheduled to begin at 8:20 p.m. EDT.
