Watch: Biden attends final White House tree lighting ceremony as president

President Biden, fresh from his trip to Angola, participated in his final White House Christmas tree lighting ceremony Thursday evening, with less than two months left in office.

The ceremony, marking the 102nd lighting of the National Christmas Tree, was hosted by Mickey Guyton and featured performances from artists such as Trisha Yearwood, Stephen Sanchez and James Taylor, among others, according to the event website.

This year’s tree is a 35-foot-tall red spruce from the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests in Virginia, per the National Park Service. Vice President Harris is also expected to be in attendance.

The event also came as Biden faced backlash for the recent pardoning of his son Hunter Biden.

The ceremony from the Ellipse was scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. EST.
