Watch live: Jeffries holds press conference amid fallout from Biden pardon

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) is holding a press conference Friday morning, just days after President Biden issued a controversial pardon for his son Hunter Biden, which has sparked backlash on both sides of the aisle.

The president argued the charges brought against the younger Biden were motivated by politics and the years-long scrutiny of him from President-elect Trump and other Republicans. But many Democrats saw the move as fueling the kind of arguments of a rigged and unfair system that have been pushed by Trump.

In the wake of his decision to grant clemency to his son for federal gun and tax charges, Jeffries and others have put pressure on Biden to issue more pardons.

His comments Friday come as Republicans prepare to take full control of government following Democrats’ widespread election losses last month.
