Watch: Jeffries holds presser as Dems prepare for GOP-controlled government
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries held a press conference Wednesday morning as Democrats in both chambers of Congress prepare for Republicans to take full control of government following last month’s election.
His remarks followed the Democratic leader’s announcement of a new Steering & Policy Committee for the 119th Congress, to “ensure that every Democratic Member of the House is fully engaged and empowered to serve America.” They also come as lawmakers are under the pressure of another shutdown deadline.
Jeffries, who was reelected earlier this month to retain his leadership position, vowed in a conference last week to seek bipartisan solutions with Republicans and putting “people over politics” in the next term.
