Watch: Louisiana AG provides update on probe into New Orleans attack
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill (R) held a press conference Tuesday afternoon to provide an update on the investigation of the New Year’s Day attack in New Orleans that killed at least 14 people.
The suspect, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, drove a rented pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street earlier this month, which is being investigated as a domestic terrorist event after a pro-ISIS flag was found in the vehicle. Jabbar, a former Army soldier from Texas, was killed by police after he opened fire on the officers.
President Biden visited Louisiana Monday, offering his condolences to the victims. He also touted New Orleans as a city that “defines strength and resilience, you define it. Whether it’s in the form of this attack … or hurricanes or superstorms, this city is — people get back up.”
Murrill was expected to go over the state’s review of the security measures put in place on New Year’s Eve, according to the announcement.
The event was scheduled to begin at 12:15 p.m. EST.
