Former Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.), President-elect Trump’s choice to lead the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will appear before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Thursday morning.

Trump, who has signaled that he would roll back environmental regulations in his second term, said Zeldin would “ensure fair and swift deregulatory decisions.”

The Empire State Republican served in the House from 2015 to 2023 and has been an outspoken ally of the president-elect. He left Congress to pursue a gubernatorial bid against New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) in 2022 but fell short.

The Senate confirmation hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EST.
