Watch: Trump speaks to Republican governors

President Trump addressed red state leaders Thursday evening during an event hosted by the Republican Governors Association in Washington.

The remarks came as Trump has done more to disrupt Washington norms in one month than what he touted on the campaign trail. Since returning to the White House, the president has moved quickly, signing dozens of executive orders aimed at cracking down on immigration, leaning into culture wars and overhauling the federal workforce while seeking to cut down on federal spending.

Trump on Thursday was expected to tout some of his administration’s accomplishments, spearheaded by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Several GOP governors have also launched their own DOGE-style cost-cutting initiatives.

The president also hosted a slew of Republican governors at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida before taking the oath of office last month.

The event was held at the National Building Museum.
