Watch live: Trump holds St. Patrick’s Day celebration at White House
President Trump on Wednesday evening is set to host his first St. Patrick’s Day celebration at the White House since returning to office.
Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin, who was elected in 2020, is also expected to attend. The annual trip from the Irish leader comes amid a tense time globally after Trump’s 25 percent tariffs went into effect Wednesday on aluminum and steel.
The visit is also seen as an important way for the two nations to reinforce their diplomatic partnership — even after the European Union, which includes Ireland, announced retaliatory measures against the new tariffs.
The event is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. EDT.
