Watch live: Trump’s pick to lead Air Force faces Senate confirmation hearing

Troy Meink, President Trump’s pick for secretary of the Air Force, will testify before the Senate Armed Services Committee Thursday morning on his nomination.

Meink has served as the principal director of the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), an intelligence agency in charge of building and maintaining U.S. spy satellites, since 2020.

The confirmation hearing comes as the Trump administration has made significant strides to overhaul the Defense Department — from efforts to implement a ban on transgender people serving openly in the military to reinstating members that voluntarily left or were forced out of the military over COVID-19 vaccine mandates to contract and workforce cuts suggested by the Department of Government Efficiency.

Three other Defense nominees will also testify.

The hearing is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. EDT.
