Watch: Trump and Netanyahu meet at White House
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made his second visit to the White House this year for a meeting with President Trump.
The meeting took place just days after Trump announced a 17 percent tariff on imported goods from the Middle Eastern country. Netanyahu will be the first international leader to visit the White House after the president’s “Liberation Day” tariffs announcement against U.S. trading partners.
The prime minister’s office said the two leaders “will discuss the tariff issue, the efforts to return our hostages, Israel-Turkey relations, the Iranian threat and the battle against the International Criminal Court.”
Netanyahu arrived at the White House at 1 p.m. EDT. A press conference planned for 2:30 p.m. EDT was replaced by an event in the Oval Office, where Trump was expected to answer pool reporters’ questions.
