Watch: White House holds impromptu press briefing teasing ‘special guest’
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt briefed reporters Wednesday afternoon, as the Trump administration faced backlash over President Trump’s sweeping tariff and immigration agenda.
Leavitt was joined by Patty Morin, who is the mom of Rachel Morin who was murdered in 2023.
The event came after U.S. District Judge James Boasberg moved to hold the administration in contempt over deportation flights — and amid pushback over the mistaken deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia to El Salvador — and after Trump met with Japanese officials to discuss potential negotiations around his tariffs.
The briefing was scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. EDT.
