Watch: Trump to sign executive orders centered on education
President Trump was expected to sign a slew of executive orders focused on education on Wednesday afternoon, according to the White House.
“There will be seven executive orders focused on education,” press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Wednesday. “Secretary Lindsay McMahon will be here in the Oval Office as well, and I won’t get ahead of them, but we’ll see you all there. And the President will take some questions.”
The actions came as the Trump administration has worked to shutter the Education Department and amid the president’s battle with higher education institutions and the impact of his immigration agenda on international students.
The event was scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. EDT.
