Department of Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer will testify before a House Appropriations subcommittee on Thursday morning on the department’s fiscal 2026 budget request.
The request includes significant cuts to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs and encourages more state funding to support training and post-secondary education for the workforce.
The hearing comes as President Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) continues its work to overhaul the civilian workforce, including mass layoffs across agencies, and slash federal spending.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EDT.
