Energy Secretary Chris Wright is testifying Wednesday afternoon before the Senate Appropriations Committee on the department’s fiscal 2026 budget request.
The Trump administration’s spending proposal includes significant cuts to Biden-era green initiatives. Paired with the GOP-backed reconciliation bill, renewable energy incentives would also be slashed.
The hearing comes after Wright announced proposals to cut dozens of energy efficiency and other rules earlier this month, describing it as the “largest deregulatory effort in history.”
The hearing is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. EDT.
