Watch: White House holds briefing amid pressure over Trump tariffs, Ukraine peace talks

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will brief reporters Tuesday afternoon as pressure grows on President Trump over his tariff moves and whether the U.S. will add additional sanctions on Russia amid the war in Ukraine.

Last week, a federal judge ruled that Trump did not have the unilateral authority to implement his sweeping tariffs on nearly all foreign trading partners. Despite the decision, the president has doubled down on his trade agenda.

Trump has also aired frustration with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky amid peace talks. While Kyiv has been more open to a ceasefire, Moscow has been less so — leading to pressure from lawmakers to implement sanctions on Russia to move negotiations along.

The press briefing is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. EDT.
