Watch: Russell Vought testifies on OMB budget

Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Russ Vought is set to testify Wednesday afternoon before a House Appropriations Committee panel on OMB’s fiscal 2026 budget request and the Trump administration’s overhaul of the federal government.

The hearing comes a day after the White House sent Congress a request to slash $9.4 billion in funding for foreign aid and public broadcasters — the first package to codify the Department of Government Efficiency’s cuts.

Vought has also faced questions in recent weeks over how President Trump’s “big, beautiful” spending package will affect the U.S. deficit and claims that no one would lose benefits due sweeping cuts to Medicaid funding included in the legislation.

Wednesday’s event is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. EDT.
