Watch: Powell testifies before House amid Trump’s criticism over interest rates

Federal Reserve Board Chair Jerome Powell speaks during a news conference at the Federal Reserve in Washington, on June 18, 2025.

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell will gave his semiannual testimony Tuesday before the House Financial Services Committee

The hearing came just days after the nation’s central bank announced it once again would keep interest rates steady, amid trade policy fluctuations and the unrest in the Middle East.

President Trump has consistently ripped Powell over the lack of rate cuts since returning to office in January and quipped last week that he could appoint himself to lead the Fed instead.

Powell will also face the Senate Banking Committee on Wednesday.

Tuesday’s event was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EDT.
