Watch: Trump hosts Congolese, Rwandan officials after US-brokered peace deal signed
President Trump on Friday, following a slew of Supreme Court wins, welcomed leaders from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda to the White House.
The meeting came just hours after Secretary of State Marco Rubio facilitated a peace-agreement signing ceremony with Congo Foreign Minister Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner and Rwandan Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe.
The negotiations, brokered by the U.S. and Qatar, will help to end a decades-long fight in eastern Congo and provide access to critical minerals for the U.S. The deal comes as the Trump administration has leaned into its diplomatic arm — pushing for a ceasefire in the Middle East and between Russia and Ukraine.
