Watch: Trump signs GENIUS Act into law, setting up regulatory stablecoin framework

President Trump signed the GENIUS Act into law Friday, paving the way for a regulatory framework for payment stablecoins.

The House voted 308-122 to advance the cryptocurrency legislation to Trump’s desk. It was one of several crypto-related bills that faced a roadblock over internal GOP divisions, which brought the chamber floor to a standstill for two days.

Trump intervened, announcing late Tuesday that he reached a deal with some Republicans who derailed the procedural vote earlier this week.

The Senate passed its version of the framework last month, a major milestone for the crypto industry.

The bill-signing ceremony was scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. EDT.
