Watch live: White House holds briefing as tariff deadline looms

NOW PLAYING

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will brief reporters Thursday, a day before “reciprocal” tariffs on dozens of foreign trading partners are set to go into effect.

President Trump has stood firm on his Aug. 1 deadline after he paused his earlier round of reciprocal tariffs to allow for trade deals. In recent weeks, the administration has unveiled that some agreements — including deals with the U.K., China, South Korea and Vietnam — have been struck or are in the works. Others are still racing to negotiate.

The briefing also comes as a federal appeals court weighs the legality of the president’s sweeping tariff agenda.

The event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. EDT.
