Watch live: Texas Dems give remarks from California amid redistricting battle

A group of Texas Democrats will give remarks from California on Friday, detailing their effort to fight what they have called unfair gerrymandering ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

The Democrats left the Lone Star State earlier this month to delay passage of a new congressional map that favors Republicans and offers the GOP an opportunity to pick up five additional House seats next year. Despite threats of arrest warrants, FBI intervention and a bomb threat against other lawmakers who fled to Illinois, the Democrats have vowed to continue their standoff against the mid-decade redistricting.

The group also met earlier Friday with Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and a group of state legislators.

The press conference is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. EDT.
