House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and GOP leaders will speak with reporters Tuesday as pressure rises on lawmakers to reopen the government after funding lapsed nearly a month ago.
Johnson’s latest remarks, which have become an almost daily ritual since the shutdown began, come a day after Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) seemingly offered an olive branch amid the impasse: Pay for essential and furloughed employees.
Democrats are also pushing harder for health care concessions as open enrollment is set to begin later this week.
The press conference is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. EDT.
