WATCH: GOP sen: Have to ask Schumer if there will be another shutdown

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) says to “ask Sen. Schumer” if the government will shutdown again when funding runs out in three weeks.

The stopgap passed Monday runs through Feb. 8. If there is not another deal reached by then, there would be another government shutdown.

When asked if he thought another shutdown was on the horizon, Tillis told The Hill, “You’d have to ask Sen. Schumer, he’s the one that shut it down the last time.”

Lawmakers still seem at odds on top-line budget caps for military spending, domestic spending and disaster relief and a number of Democrats still want to get legislation in place to protect those enrolled in the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) told The Hill, “I hope” there won’t be another government shutdown, adding, “I hope the Republicans do what they promise to do.”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Monday promised to take up an immigration bill protecting an estimated 700,000 “Dreamers” from deportation and allow an open amendment process if Democrats agreed to reopen the government.

Watch the video above to hear the senators and their GOP and Democratic colleagues predict how the next three weeks will unfold.
