WATCH: Dem chides Trump after North Korea talks called off
A Democratic lawmaker is knocking President Trump’s “impulsive, childish” behavior after the president called off planned talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un for next month.
“People were hopeful that we could find peace on the peninsula, but again, you see an impulsive, childish president who one week is talking about getting the Nobel Peace Prize and is probably rehearsing his end zone dance a little too early … and then the next week he’s now again threatening that our nuclear arsenal is greater than North Korea’s,” Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) told The Hill.
Earlier Thursday, Trump canceled the nuclear summit planned for next month in Singapore, citing Kim’s “tremendous anger and open hostility” toward the United States.
In a letter to Kim released by the White House, Trump wrote that he felt “it is inappropriate, at this time, to have this long-planned meeting.”
