President Trump will release a long-awaited Middle East peace plan on Tuesday accompanied by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.
“It’s the closest we’ve ever come” to an agreement between the Israelis and Palestinians, Trump said, challenging critics who believe the plan is weighted against Palestinians.
Foreign policy analysts have suggested Trump’s peace plan — three years in the making and unveiled during his own impeachment trial and while Netanyahu battles charges of corruption — is a backdrop for an ally before Israeli voters head to the polls.
The press conference is slated for noon.
