Watch: What to expect at Biden’s first State of the Union
President Biden’s first State of the Union address comes as Americans are facing high inflation and the U.S. has imposed sanctions against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine — and months before a critical midterm election for the president.
Biden will likely tout accomplishments so far in his administration, including the bipartisan infrastructure bill and the nomination of his first Supreme Court justice, aiming to give Democrats a strong message to take back to the campaign trail.
But some progressives will be left disappointed without the passage of his Build Back Better agenda or even parts of it before the address.
He will also be tasked with addressing his administration’s progress on fighting COVID-19 while visible protocols will be on display in the House chamber, including N95 masks on lawmakers and social distancing.
