Operative shares ‘dirty little secret’ of debates

A good showing on the debate stage won’t be enough for any of the Republican presidential candidates to clinch their party’s nomination, according to Ralph E. Reed, the president of public relations firm Century Strategies.

{mosads}”The dirty little secret is there is no real correlation between who does best in debates and who wins the nomination,” Reed says.

Reed said it’s important for the candidates to perform well in the debates, but said a compelling message and strong ground game are also crucial for success.

Candidates who are strong on all three points will be in a great position for the Iowa caucuses, which are less than 90 days away, he said.
