Tierney to Issa: Don’t slam your hammer

Rep. John Tierney (D-Mass.) lashed out at Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) during Wednesday’s House Oversight Committee hearing on ObamaCare.

Tierney was frustrated after Issa slammed his gavel and denied Rep. Elijah Cummings’s (D-Md.) request to further question Chief Technology Officer Todd Park.

“Don’t be slamming that hammer around here,” Tierney said. “So you’re not going to run it fair here and do this all the way [fairly]?”

Issa ignored Tierney and recognized Rep. John Mica (R-Fla.) for his questioning of Park.

{mosads}Cummings had asked Issa for more time to ask questions to Park.

“Mr. Chairman, I just ask for the same amount of time you had,” Cummings said.

Issa denied the request as Cummings looked visibly in disbelief.

“Mr. Chairman, it was almost four minutes that you exceeded your time by — four minutes,” Tierney said in Cummings’s defense.

Issa then slammed the gavel and ordered that the committee moved on to further questioning.
