Fox News host Bill O’Reilly on Tuesday said President Obama’s promise that Americans could keep their healthcare plan and not switch to ObamaCare was proof that he not only misunderstood the law but never read it.

“I don’t think he read the law or understands it,” O’Reilly said. “He did not care very much about the details.”

The “O’Reilly Factor” host demanded that Obama admit his wrongdoing to the American people and take responsibility for misleading them regarding the healthcare exchange.

“It is beyond a reasonable doubt that the president and his administration misled Americans about ObamaCare,” O’Reilly said. “[Obama’s promise] is not true, and the president should admit it, but he won’t.”

O’Reilly attacked Obama for saying that the Affordable Care Act allows Americans to be “grandfathered in” and that insurance plans must be changed into a “higher standard.”

“There’s not a grandfather in the country who knows what the president is talking about,” O’Reilly said. “Insurance policies change all the time, and if those policies do not comply with ObamaCare, then you cannot have them.”

O’Reilly warned Obama of former President George H. W. Bush’s 1988 promise that he would not raise taxes. When Bush raised taxes in 1990 to resolve a budget deficit, he fell out of favor with the American people, O’Reilly said.

“President Obama should take note … ObamaCare is a far different deal,” he said. “When Americans are directly affected, paying more money for something, they pay attention.”

Whether Obama actually read the law, O’Reilly said, doesn’t matter because Americans are already paying the price.

“Americans were misled; ObamaCare is chaotic,” he said. “Most of us will have to pay more to protect ourselves and our families.

“President Obama should give the country a break, fix what’s broken and level with the folks.”
