A day in Boehner’s life
Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) offered a behind-the-scenes look into a typical day for him as Speaker of the House in an online video posted to his YouTube account on Tuesday.
Boehner said he starts his day around 6 a.m. with a visit to Starbucks or Pete’s Diner, a favorite breakfast joint of his, before reviewing his schedule and heading to the Capitol.
{mosads}After arriving at the Capitol around 9 a.m., Boehner meets with his senior staff members, who brief him on the House agenda for the day. Boehner then conducts meetings with Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.).
“As difficult as it all is, every day there’s some little step in the right direction,” Boehner said.
The Speaker then opens the daily House session and meets with constituents and other lawmakers once the session is over.
“His schedule is so packed from morning to night,” one staffer said. “It’s a little hectic, but it’s organized chaos.”
