After lawmakers behaved themselves at the historic papal address to Congress, one Democratic congressman says the pope should come around more often.
House Democratic Caucus Chairman Xavier Becerra (Calif.) said after Thursday’s historic address that he was pleased that “we behaved really well.”
{mosads}”It wouldn’t hurt for our decorum, and the etiquette … if we had someone like the pope come more often,” Becerra joked with The Hill’s Molly K. Hooper in a video interview.
His colleague, Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Calif.), attributes the good behavior to the fact that “this pope has become almost an icon for the possibilities that can happen in the world.”
Hooper reports on the historic day from outside the Capitol. To hear Becerra and Sanchez in their own words, please watch the video above.
