Dem strategist says Sanders will not be the nominee

Democratic strategist Jim Manley said he doubts Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders will clinch the Democratic nomination.

“He can stay in for a while, don’t get me wrong,” Manley told The Hill. “But in a week or so it’s gonna become pretty clear to him, I think, that he’s not gonna be the nominee.”

{mosads}Despite Sanders’ well-funded campaign and enthusiastic supporters, Manley says it’s going to come down to the delegate count.

“The math again is very difficult for him as you look at the totality of the states … I’m just not sure he’ll be able to pick up the votes necessary.”

Manley predicts Hillary Clinton’s lock on the African American vote in South Carolina will help her score a victory in the Palmetto State and carry her through Super Tuesday on March 1.
