Butterfield: SCOTUS nominee roadblock ‘smells of racism’
The Congressional Black Caucus Chairman tells The Hill that Senate Republicans refuse to consider the President’s yet-to-be-named Supreme Court nominee because Obama is ‘”an African American with progressive values.”
“I believe that if the president was white and not progressive that this would not have happened,” CBC Chairman Rep. G.K. Butterfield (D-N.C.) says in an interview with The Hill’s Molly K. Hooper.
Butterfield attributes Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s “pronouncement” not to hold confirmation hearings or an up-or-down vote on Obama’s future Supreme Court pick on the president’s race and political beliefs.
