King: Benghazi panel should finish by 2016
Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) on Monday said the recently announced House Select Committee should finish its investigation of the Benghazi attack by the 2016 election.
“I think there can be a time frame put into it,” King said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe. ”It should be out of the way before the 2016 election.”
The congressman was asked if the committee’s duration should be limited in case former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton runs for the White House, is elected president and still investigated in 2017.
{mosads}King is the former chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee and said he supports the formation of the Select Committee, which Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) announced on Friday.
The committee’s main purpose is to bring all of the elements together, said King, who added he still has a lot of questions.
The congressman said the State Department, the CIA, the National Security Council contributed to “the phony narrative” the White House provided about the attack being linked to protests over a controversial video.
