Watch: Conservatives doubt survival of GOP healthcare plan
Several conservative lawmakers predict that the GOP House leadership’s proposal to repeal and replace ObamaCare won’t even make it out of committee for a floor vote.
“If it was voted on today by secret ballot, it would fail miserably. But it won’t be a secret ballot; it’s public ballot,” Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) says in an interview with The Hill’s Molly K. Hooper.
Asked if the American Health Care Act would make it to the full House floor in its current form, conservative Rep. Dave Brat (R-Va.) says, “I doubt it.”
{mosads}Brooks says the measure, introduced Monday night and backed by House leaders and the Trump administration, “is not repeal; it is an amendment to ObamaCare. There are still substantial provisions that remain in ObamaCare even if this House leadership legislation passes.”
