Intel likely from commando raid in Syria
U.S. commandos who killed a key operative for the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria last week probably also gathered information significant to the organization, according to a terror group intelligence expert.
“We will get very good data on the network that operates inside Syria: the use of financial sources to support the group — personalities, identities, addresses, phone numbers insight into a secret organization,” Tom Sanderson, director of the Transnational Threats Project for the Center for Strategic and International Studies, tells The Hill.
{mosads}Sanderson believes that Congress is likely to support similar raids in the future given the success of Friday’s operation in which U.S. Delta Force troops killed Abu Sayyaf.
