Trump: No plans for now to travel overseas
Donald Trump has no plans for now to travel overseas, saying he doesn’t believe a foreign trip would help his campaign.
{mosads}“I don’t think it registers with the voters to be honest with you,” Trump told The Wall Street Journal for a story published Monday. “What I really want to do is focus on our country and the election, but I might. I’ve been invited by numerous countries to go.”
Trump canceled a trip to Israel in December after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized his proposal to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the U.S.
Trump said last week that he had been invited to 10 Downing Street in the United Kingdom, though British Prime Minister David Cameron’s office denied there had been a formal invite.
Cameron, who has also ripped Trump’s Muslim ban proposal, said Sunday he wasn’t sure if he’d meet Trump before the November election but said he’d be “very happy” to meet Trump if he becomes the GOP nominee.
Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, has been under fire from Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, with the former secretary of State arguing that Trump lacks the foreign policy credentials to be president.
