Obama shows off custom US women’s soccer jersey to celebrate World Cup win
Former President Obama on Wednesday showed off his custom jersey celebrating the U.S. women’s national soccer team winning the World Cup, saying he was proud to “rep America’s best team.”
“Congrats @USWNT and thanks for being such a strong inspiration for women and girls—and everybody—all across the country,” Obama wrote on Twitter ahead of the ticker tape parade in New York City celebrating the team’s victory.

Both the former commander in chief and first lady Michelle Obama congratulated the women’s team on their back-to-back World Cup victories.
Yes! Fourth star. Back to back. Congrats to the record breakers on the @USWNT, an incredible team that’s always pushing themselves—and the rest of us—to be even better. Love this team. #OneNationOneTeam

Obama honored the team in 2015 after their third World Cup win, but it is unclear if the reigning champions will head to the White House this year.
Co-captain Megan Rapinoe, a frequent critic of President Trump, has said that she would not visit. Teammate Alex Morgan said last week the team will likely decide together whether to accept Trump’s invitation.
Rapinoe, however, has said she has accepted invitations from Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) to visit Congress.
