Woman claims hair fell out after buying conditioner mixed with hair loss cream
A woman from Wisconsin is gaining national headlines after claiming a conditioner she purchased from a Walmart had been mixed with hair loss cream, causing her to lose chunks of her hair.
{mosads}In a Facebook post she shared on Monday, Ashley Rose Robinson shared photos showing patches of hair loss on her head, and warned social media users to “check your bottles where ever you get them, nothing can be trusted anymore.”
“As I type this I’m crying bc that’s all I have done since this incident. This is raw and has hit me like no other. My hair was finally the way I loved it to be and now it’s gone,” she said in the post.
“These photos I’m sharing are personal to me but apparently needs to get out there, most of these were from last night, through the night and morning on hair had fallen out and still was falling out in clumps before I shaved it,” she continued. “Picture do not do it justice or show the 100% damage it has caused me. My heart hurts terribly I don’t even have any words to say to anyone as I just can’t get anything out but that it hurts and has been scary.”
Robinson said her “only intentions for sharing is to prevent it from happening to anyone else.”
According to a local Fox station, the Walmart store in New Richmond, Wis., is working with local police to investigate the complaint.
A woman identified by the station as Robinson’s mother said in a Facebook post that her daughter “went to get a consultation for extensions her hair is so brittle and still falling out they can’t do anything.”
She added that her daughter’s uncle later shaved her head on Monday night.
A GoFundMe created to help Robinson with “any potential medical costs and legal fees” has racked up $1,435 of its $5,000 goal as of Thursday afternoon. The crowdfunding campaign said Robinson had gone to the emergency room after the incident and that “her scalp is red and irritated.”
“It is believed that the conditioner was tampered with and someone put some sort of chemical depilatory cream inside of it, such as Nair or Veet,” the page, which said it was created by Robinson’s friends, claims.
The report arrives after a number of high-profile incidents where people have been tampering with products in stores as part of a viral trend.
Last month, a man from Louisiana was arrested after he opened a tub of ice cream and licked it before returning it to a store shelf. Authorities said at the time that they believed the incident was a copycat version of another viral video that showed a teenager doing the same thing earlier this year.
