Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders said Sunday he’s tired of being “beaten up” by rival Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
“I think that what’s happened is that, you know, I’ve become a little bit tired of being beaten up by the negativity of the Clinton campaign, and we are responding in kind,” the Vermont senator said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”
{mosads}“I think they made it very clear what their goal was, and I think I quote properly here, disqualify, defeat and then reunite the party later on,” Sanders said. “They’ve gone after us in every single area in a way that just misrepresents my views.”
He continued to rail against Clinton for going after big-money donors and not supporting a $15 minimum wage, two items he focused on heavily during last Thursday’s debate.
“I think what you are seeing now is there are real differences of opinion between Secretary Clinton and myself,” Sanders said. “She is out there raising money for the wealthy and powerful, and I think you can judge a candidate based on how you raise money and who you ultimately become dependent upon.”
Sanders released an ad in California over the weekend coinciding with two of Clinton’s high-dollar fundraisers with actor George Clooney.
In it, he boasted his average campaign contribution of $27 as Clinton geared up for a $33,400-per-ticket fundraiser in Los Angeles.
