Republican nominee Donald Trump said he’s not sure if it’s the right decision to campaign in Washington state.
{mosads}“Who knows if it’s the right thing or the wrong thing,” Trump said during an interview on a Seattle radio station, ahead of a rally he’s scheduled to hold in the area Tuesday night.
“But as far as I’m concerned it’s the right thing to do because I have always loved the state.”
The presidential contender said his campaign has had “great receptivity” in the state, which has voted for the Democratic nominee in the past several presidential elections.
“We’ve got very good numbers from other states where we’re sort of in the same position. And we are doing … I guess I’m a little bit different kind of candidate, frankly,” he said, when asked why he was campaigning in “one of the bluest-of-blue states.”
“I am in Los Angeles and different parts of California, I said, ‘Let’s go up.’ “
Trump also said he’s received “tremendous support” from the people in Washington state.
“I said I would do it and I hear they’re going to have a very big turnout,” the real estate mogul said.
“So I said on the way back I will be doing it, I’ll stay there. I love the state, I have so many friends there and I said, let’s do it.”
Trump is holding a rally Tuesday evening in Everett, Wash.
Earlier this month, he held a campaign event in the deep-blue Connecticut, a state that hasn’t gone for a GOP presidential nominee since 1988.
