Swalwell blasts Trump for holding rally during Hurricane Michael: ‘NOPE NOPE NOPE’

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) on Thursday blasted President Trump for defending the president’s decision to hold a campaign rally in Pennsylvania while Hurricane Michael was battering the Florida panhandle.

{mosads}”Foolishly, I give Trump benefit of the doubt, assuming he’s talking about the #HurricaneMichael victims who need help,” the California Congressman tweeted.

“NOPE NOPE NOPE. He’s justifying why he went to a rally rather than help victims.”

Trump appeared on Fox & Friends on Thursday morning and addressed the “heat” he got for attending a rally in Pennsylvania while the hurricane hammered the Southeast.

“When I explained it there was no heat … other than the natural haters,” he said.

“We had thousands of people lined up by the time I had to make a decision … Do I want to tell people that were waiting 10 or 12 hours already that I’m not coming?”

Swalwell, who has not ruled out a bid for the White House in 2020, is a frequent critic of the president.

After United Nations members last month laughed at Trump comments before the general assembly, Swalwell unearthed a tweet of the president calling Barack Obama “a laughing stock to the entire world.”
