Attorney Michael Avenatti predicted Friday that President Trump and Fox News would blame explosive devices mailed to top figures in the Democratic Party on a “left wing liberal” pretending to be a Trump supporter after authorities arrested a suspect in Florida.
Retweeting images of a vehicle seized by the FBI in connection with the arrest that appears to be plastered with political decals in support of the president and criticizing Democrats, Avenatti, who has repeatedly floated at 2020 White House bid, remarked sarcastically that “all of my close friends that are Dems have vehicles that look exactly like this.”
{mosads}Avenatti is a frequent critic of the president and represents Stormy Daniels, an adult-film star who says she had an affair with Trump more than a decade ago.
The attorney also represents Julie Swetnick, one of the three women who came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against Brett Kavanaugh, Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court.
Avenatti said last month that he was getting “more serious” every week about challenging Trump in 2020.
“I’m very serious,” Avenatti told CNN’s “Reliable Sources” in September. “And I’m getting more serious by the week because I’m traveling around the country and people are encouraging me to do it.”
