A black bear ventured onto the Fukushima softball arena as the Tokyo Games began on Wednesday, getting onto the field just hours before the match between Japan and Australia.

The black bear, a species common to Japan, was spotted twice this week at the Azuma Sports Park and is reportedly still on the loose as Fukushima officials search for it.

The entire security for the event that night has reportedly been designated to search for the bear, The Independent reported.

A brown bear was also spotted last month in the northern city of Sapporo, which is where the Olympic marathon will be hosted.

“A guard found a bear inside Azuma Sports Park early in the morning yesterday. We also received similar information this morning,” a spokesman said.

According to TMZ, the security venue is using loud music and firecrackers to draw out the bear.

“We couldn’t find or capture the bear, and while there won’t be any spectators at the stadium, we are on alert and searching for the bear around the site,” the spokesman added.

No one was reported to be hurt, and fans are not attending this year’s Olympics.
