President Trump in a pair of tweets on Tuesday again praised Sen. Luther Strange (R-Ala.) ahead of an Alabama special election primary for the Senate.
“Senator Luther Strange, who is doing a great job for the people of Alabama, will be on @foxandfriends at 7:15. Tough on crime, borders etc.,” Trump tweeted Tuesday.
“Big day in Alabama. Vote for Luther Strange, he will be great!” Trump tweeted just a couple hours later.
Trump earlier this month endorsed Strange, who was appointed by then-Gov. Robert Bentley (R) to fill Attorney General Jeff Sessions‘s vacated seat.
{mosads}On Monday, the president similarly praised Strange, saying he was strong on the border, the military and tax cuts.
Trump also recorded a robocall for Strange, in which he encouraged voters to get out and support him in Tuesday’s primary.
A recent poll showed Strange trailing former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore in the GOP primary race set for Tuesday. A primary runoff is likely, and Strange is competing with Rep. Mo Brooks for the second spot after Moore.
